Please join Nature Guelph Wildflower on Tuesday January 17, 2023 at 7:30 pm for a presentation about Hybridization in Species at Risk. The event will be held at Water St Church, 287 Water St, Guelph Ontario. Everyone is welcome!
Dr Brian Husband will discuss hybridization between native and non native trees and how the process hinders or enhances survival of the native species. He will discuss Red Mulberry, Sweet Crabapple and American Chestnut.
Brian is a professor in the College of Biological Science at University of Guelph. He was Associate Dean Academic for ~15 years and received the John Bell award for contributions to education. He was the recipient of a Canada Research Chair and Premiers Research Excellence Award for his research, which explores the ecology, genetics, and reproductive biology of plant populations and has advanced our understanding of adaptation to environmental change, species formation, and ecological and genetic factors affecting species at risk.
