We run a variety of outdoor programs from September to June. Like our indoor meetings, the outdoor programs are open to members and non-members alike, and guests are always welcome. Past programs have included hikes, guided tours, mini-workshops, pond explorations and social gatherings. Most are local to Guelph, but we occasionally range farther afield when there are interesting things to explore. Carpooling is made available whenever possible.

Nature Guelph Wildflower

Outdoor activities include trips, local plant salvages and assisting with habitat restoration projects. Our annual seed workshop gives members an opportunity to plant a tray of native plant seeds and learn about the care and propagation of native plants. Our plant raffles and annual native plant sales every May raise funds that help support  native plant habitat protection.

Nature Guelph Bird Wing

A pair of binoculars is a must-have for the various local and regional birding outings led by Nature Guelph Bird Wing.

Interpretive Outings

These guided tours are intended to get us outside, explore and learn a bit more about our natural world.

Tales ‘n’ Trails

This series of outdoor events are intended for children up to age 12 and their families (with adult guardians), but all ages are welcome. The trails are usually jogging-stroller-friendly. Dress for the weather – these events are rain or shine. Since the majority of participants are younger children, please leave dogs at home.

Social Hikes

Social hikes are intended for ages 12 and up. Depending on the time of year, we may be hiking past sunset so it’s always a good idea to bring a flashlight with you – and always dress for the weather. These events are leashed-dog-friendly for those who plan to attend the hike only.
