Join Nature Guelph Bird Wing at the New Guelph Lake Nature Centre for this family-friendly Christmas Bird Count, the longest-running community science project in North America. This popular winter holiday event offers young birders and their families an easy and fun opportunity to contribute to stewardship by documenting winter bird populations.
After a short presentation, we will take to the trails on a guided hike to find and practice identifying the birds at the Guelph Lake Conservation Area! We will then return to the nature centre for some refreshments, craft and a tally rally to share our findings.
Christmas Bird Count is a tradition for many families and is the longest running community science project in North America! Each year, people in more than 2000 locations throughout the Western Hemisphere participate in the Christmas Bird Count!
