Alice Dabrowski, Ph.D. Candidate, University of Guelph
– Pollinators are in decline. To counter this, you may hear “save the bees”, “build a butterfly garden”…but have you though “feed the flies”? Flower flies, or hoverflies, are valuable garden heroes in both their adult and larval stages. Alice Dabrowski will discuss flower fly identification, habitat requirements, where to search to flower flies, and garden recommendations. Connecting to February’s iNaturalist presentations, Alice will highlight how community science is contributing to interesting flower fly observations.
