John Kemp, Inventor, Product Developer
The Giant Hogweed Mitigation Project brings together government agencies, land managers, property owners and volunteers to combat one of Ontario’ most dangerous invasive plants. The project is dedicated to education, mapping and coordinated removal efforts throughout the Grand River Watershed. John Kemp will highlight how giant hogweed spreads rapidly – particularly downstream via waterways – and why a united community response is essential to protecting recreation, agriculture, and residential safety along the river.
John Kemp, an inventor and product developer, is passionate about nature, outdoor adventure, and mentoring youth. He founded the Giant Hogweed Mitigation Project in 2019 to address a gap in community response to this invasive threat. John’s work combines hands-on management of giant hogweed with educating and inspiring others to take environmental stewardship into their own hands.
