Join Bird Safe Guelph and Nature Guelph Bird Wing for a day of finding fall migrating birds within the Wellington/Waterloo area. With fall migration underway, this volunteer-led trip will visit a few spots where a variety of birds are likely to be encountered. Our targets will include shorebirds, waterfowl, songbirds, raptors and anything else we can find.
Potential locations may include:
- Guelph Lake
- Hespeler Mill Pond
- Wilson’s Flats
- University of Guelph’s Arboretum
Actual locations visited and route will be decided closer to the day based on recent sightings.

LOCATION & TIME: Meet at Wild Birds Unlimited (987 Gordon Street, Unit 2, Guelph ON N1G 4W3) to arrange carpooling at 8 am. We should arrive back in Guelph around 2 pm.
IMPORTANT DETAILS
- This event includes considerable travel by car. Public transport is not available.
- This event is family-friendly, BUT there will be prolonged periods of waiting/standing around, potentially in cold, windy, and/or wet weather. This event is likely not suitable for young children.
- This event is NOT dog-friendly.
- This will be a full day so please be prepared with snacks, lunch, water and a warm beverage. There are opportunities for quick food and washroom stops along the way.
- DRESS WARMLY! It may be colder than you think!
- Bring your binoculars and spotting scopes if you have them. If you need some binoculars, Guelph Public Library has binoculars that can be borrowed.
- Carpooling can be arranged by participants at the meeting spot or ahead of time.
