Jofina Victor and Samina Hayat, Fisheries and Oceans Canada
Learn about the high-risk aquatic invasive species that people may encounter locally, what Fisheries and Oceans Canada is doing to address these threats, and ways the community can participate in prevention and response efforts.
Samina Hayat is a biologist with a wide range of research experience focused on aquatic ecosystems. She obtained her master’s degree from University of Waterloo. She has worked on numerous projects on the Grand River as well as on the provincial multi-agency covid wastewater surveillance project. Jofina Victor is a biologist and has been with DFO’s Aquatic Invasive Species program since 2022. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in environmental science at York University and a Fish and Wildlife technician diploma at Fleming College. Her main area of focus currently is invasive crayfish.
