The Scott Beemer Nature Award is an annual award of a certificate and $200 presented by Nature Guelph to an individual or group who has made a significant contribution to nature education, conservation or stewardship in Guelph or Wellington County. The recipient will be selected by a committee of five Club members selected and chaired by the President or nominee. The Award will be made at the Annual General Meeting in December.
Born and raised in Guelph, Scott Beemer started attending Nature Guelph meetings with his beloved mother Sue when he was a high school student. He was keenly interested in all nature-related topics and often approached guest speakers after their presentations to engage in further conversation. Unfortunately, Scott passed away in July 2020. He was always a gentle and good-natured presence on field outings, and his love of nature is sadly missed. To honour Scott’s memory, Nature Guelph created this award recognizing those who further our mission of connecting people with nature and inspiring them to celebrate and protect it.
