Plant galls are some of nature’s most remarkable and overlooked structures, created by insects, mites, fungi and other organisms that manipulate plant growth. This presentation explores the surprising diversity of gall-makers found in Ontario and how these tiny architects reveal fascinating ecological relationships that are often hiding in plain sight.
Joseph Langlois is an Interpretive Naturalist and Student Engagement Coordinator at the University of Guelph Arboretum, where he connects people with nature through educational programming, interactive activities, and community engagement. Passionate about biodiversity in all its forms, Jo enjoys introducing others to the fascinating world of plant galls and helping people discover the hidden diversity around them. Originally from Québec, he moved to Guelph to complete a Master of Environmental Sciences at the University of Guelph and has worked at The Arboretum since graduating in 2024.
