Join Nature Guelph Bird Wing for a special day touring the Long Point Bird Observatory in Port Rowan, Ontario on Saturday, April 18, 2026. A trip to Long Point Bird Observatory is highly recommended for anyone interested in birds. Long Point, Ontario, Canada is one of the most exciting places on the continent to observe our rich birdlife. LPBO biologists and visitors have studied birds here since 1960, and over 400 bird species have been observed in the Long Point area.

Bird Wing has arranged a tour of LPBO including a short (~1 hr) guided tour of our on-site migration monitoring program including a bird banding demonstration.

While in the area we will also explore other birding hotspots. The ‘Long Point Birding Area’ in Norfolk County is one of Canada’s premier birding locales with a wide variety of habitats including extensive public forests and wetlands to explore.

The exact itinerary for the day will depend on the weather and birding conditions. Participants should expect to walk several kilometers over the course of the day, with some driving to trailheads. Carpooling is encouraged and can be arranged among participants before or during the event. Participants should plan to bring their own lunch.

REGISTRATION REQUIRED (Limited to 20 participants) Nature Guelph members are welcome to register early. Non-members may only register two weeks before the event. A $10 fee/person is required for this trip (money to be collected prior to the trip – details will be provided when registration is confirmed). https://forms.gle/5aqYoxsTi5BHwXhf9
