 nservation abroad in Costa Rica with Lilly Briggs\, Finca Cántaros Enviro
 nmental Association (FCEA)\, a Canadian-Costa Rican non-profit organizatio
 n. Beat the late winter blues with this virtual trip to the FCEA headquart
 ers in San Vito de Coto Brus\, Costa Rica\, to learn about ongoing efforts
  in bird conservation through education.\n\nATTENDING THIS MEETING: This m

  core of everything FCEA does\, and we use birds and forest restoration as
  a vehicle for facilitating environmental education experiences for divers
 e audiences in the community. This talk will describe how in less than fou
 r years since its 2020 founding\, FCEA has created and protected bird habi
 tat\, engaged kids and adults alike in bird-focused environmental educatio
 n\, and contributed to avian scientific research\, and highlights how ever
 yone—whether they live near or far—can get involved in hands-on positi
 ve action to help birds in Costa Rica.\n\nSPEAKER BIO\n\nLilly Briggs\, Fo
 under &amp\; Director of Finca Cántaros Environmental Association\, holds
  a PhD from the Department of Natural Resources at Cornell University. Thr
 oughout her Masters of Environmental Studies (from York University)\, PhD 
 and postdoctoral years\, she collaborated with the Cornell Lab of Ornithol
 ogy in developing BirdSleuth International (an environmental education and
  science curriculum focused on birds\, conservation and citizen science) f
 or audiences in Central and South America.\n\nLilly’s background in the 
 social sciences focused on environmental education\, international develop
 ment studies and the human dimensions of conservation. As the founder and 
 director of Finca Cántaros Environmental Association\, she leads her team
 ’s work on a variety of projects in collaboration with local\, national 
 and international partners. She is from British Columbia\, Canada\, and ha
 s been passionate about nature\, birds and environmental education her who
 le life.
