A trip to Long Point Bird Observatory is highly recommended for anyon e interested in birds. Long Point\, Ontario\, Canada is one of the most ex citing places on the continent to observe our rich birdlife. LPBO biologis ts and visitors have studied birds here since 1960\, and over 400 bird spe cies have been observed in the Long Point area.\n\nBird Wing has arranged a tour of LPBO including a short (~1 hr) guided tour of our on-site migrat ion monitoring program including a bird banding demonstration.\n\nWhile in the area we will also explore other birding hotspots. The ‘Long Point B irding Area’ in Norfolk County is one of Canada’s premier birding loca les with a wide variety of habitats including extensive public forests and wetlands to explore.\n\nThe exact itinerary for the day will depend on th e weather and birding conditions. Participants should expect to walk sever al kilometers over the course of the day\, with some driving to trailheads . Carpooling is encouraged and can be arranged among participants before o r during the event. Participants should plan to bring their own lunch.\n\n Event is currently at capacity. Please feel free to join the waiting list and we will let you know if spaces open up allowing you to join us. Nature Guelph members are welcome to register early. Non-members may only regist er two weeks before the event. We will plan to return to Guelph around 4 pm. \n\nIMPOR TANT DETAILS:\n\n This event includes considerable travel by car.  Publi c transport is not available.\n This event is family-friendly\, BUT there will be prolonged periods of waiting/standing around\, potentially in col d\, windy\, and/or wet weather. This event is likely not suitable for youn g children.\n This event is NOT dog-friendly.\n This will be a full day please be prepared with snacks\, lunch\, water and a warm beverage. There are opportunities for quick food stops along the way or bring your own lun ch.\n DRESS WARMLY! It will be colder than you think! Dress for the weath er – it’s often colder than you think along the water\, so wear lots o f layers! And you might get wet.\n Bring your binoculars and spotting sco pes if you have them.
