SUMMARY:Fantastic Cranes and Where to Find Them
DESCRIPTION:Sandhill Cranes are large\, charismatic birds that can often be
  seen (and heard!) in large congregations in the fall. Once near extinctio
 n\, cranes have made a remarkable recovery\, and they are becoming more co
 mmonly observed in Ontario and Quebec. This presentation will give an over
 view to how researchers catch and use GPS telemetry to track movements of 
 cranes captured in Ontario and Quebec.\n\nSpeaker Bio: Kelly McLean is the
  Ecology Lab Coordinator for the Environment Faculty at the University of 
 Waterloo\, and PhD student in the Fedy Lab at the University of Waterloo. 
 Kellys PhD research focuses on the movement ecology and habitat use of San
 dhill Cranes. In her role as the Ecology Lab Coordinator at the University
  of Waterloo\, she assists with field and lab course components in the Env
 ironment Faculty.\n\nTHIS EVENT IS FREE BUT DONATIONS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME.
