SUMMARY:Examining Climate Extremes on Ecosystems in a Changing World
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Alex Filazzola\, Data Scientist\, ApexRMS\, Adjunct Faculty
\, Western University\n\n\n–\n\nAlex Filazzola leans on over a decade of
his research to discuss climate extremes across time and space. He descri
bes how in our changing climate\, natural ecosystems are being pushed and
pulled into different directions\, resulting in a large impact on our biod
iversity. From deserts to mountains to cities\, Alex will give examples of
our present so we can better understand how nature might respond in the f
uture.\n\nDr. Alessandro Filazzola is a data scientist at ApexRMS and adju
nct faculty at Western University. He is a resident of Guelph and a passio
nate environmentalist. He is working to develop a software called SyncroSi
m that is intended to increase the accessibility of complex ecological mod
els into the hands of decision-makers and land managers.\n\nPhoto: Judy Br
