SUMMARY:Beaver Walk: Discovering Nature’s Wetland Builders
DESCRIPTION:Julianna van Adrichem \n–\nJoin us for an evening walk along
Marden Creek at Ignatius Jesuit Centre (located just north of Guelph). Th
is walk will explore the remarkable role of beavers in shaping healthy eco
systems. Often misunderstood as nuisances\, beavers are in fact powerful e
cosystem restoration experts\, slowing water\, repairing floodplains\, and
creating habitat for a wide range of species. During this guided walk\, w
e’ll look for signs of beaver activity and discuss how their dam-buildin
g supports biodiversity and climate resilience. Along the way\, we’ll le
arn how to recognize active versus inactive beaver constructions\, and con
sider how working with natural processes can also result in better outcome
s for our communities.\nThis walk will combine natural history\, observati
on\, and conversation\, and is open to anyone curious to understand beaver
s and the hidden dynamics of the landscapes around us.\n\nJulianna van Adr
ichem (@julesvanadrichemis) a conservation professional with a background
in zoology and environmental studies\, with a growing focus on freshwater
ecosystem restoration and community-based stewardship. She has experience
leading conservation initiatives and working at the intersection of scienc
e and community engagement. Julianna currently serves as Vice President of
Nature Guelph\, where she supports governance\, collaboration\, and local
environmental programming. She is particularly interested in riverscape r

diverse landscapes.\n\nRegistration required: Limited to 20 participants.
